Christmas Shopping
People traditionally buy presents for their friends and family for Christmas, and in the weeks before Christmas the shops are very lively. Many shops and stores decorate their buildings with lights and pictures of things like holly and Christmas trees, and some big malls also have a special area decorated like Santa's home, where the people can meet Santa and tell him what presents they want.

Christmas Cards
People also sent Christmas cards to their friends in order to say Marry Christmas. Christmas cards usually have picture relating to Christmas traditions and winter, such as Christmas trees, holly, snowmen, and Santa Claus.

Christmas Food
People usually eat more food at Christmas than at other times of the year. In the US, people eat Christmas cookies, special cookies they bake at home. Traditional British food includes Christmas cake and mince pies.

Christmas Eve
The day before Christmas Day is known as Christmas Eve. Some people go to church; others have a drink with their friends. Children get very excited on Christmas Eve because they believe that Santa Claus will come down the chimney of their house and put presents in the Christmas socks at the and of their bed or on the mantelpiece. They leave a glass of sherry (a type of strong wine) and a mince pie, a small sweet pie filled with raisins, apples, and species, for Santa.

Christmas Day - December 25th
On Christmas Day people give their presents and then have a special meal called Christmas dinner. This is typically turkey with potatoes and other vegetables, usually carrots and sprouts. In the UK, this is followed by Christmas pudding.
