Darth Vader

The new trilogy will open in the Old Republic, an age-old democratic galactic government which soon comes under threat from its own President Palpatine. For a variety of reasons, Palpatine misuses his position and declares himself Emperor of the galaxy. His attempts to replace the Old Republic with the Imperial Empire result in the wars between the forces of light and dark. The Jedi Knights, who are the Old Republic’s protectors, fight against the evil warriors. As Palpatine rises to power, a young man named Obi-Wan Kenobi successfully graduates from Yoda`s University of the Force to become a Jedi Knight. While fighting for the Republic, he befriends his colleague Anakin Skywalker – an exceptional pilot and warrior. Realising that Anakin could become a powerful Jedi Knight, Obi-Wan decides to train his friend in the ways of the Force. Unfortunately, towards the end of his training Anakin is seduced by the Dark Side of the Force and becomes a pupil of the evil Emperor. Shocked by his friend’s act of betrayal, Obi-Wan confronts Anakin and tries to convince him to abandon the evil ways. However, when it becomes clear that Anakin’s decision is final, the two warriors begin a bitter duel, which ends with Anakin falling into a pit full of molten lava. Although Obi-Wan leaves his former friend for dead, Anakin somehow manages to survive and his shattered body is recovered by a group of Imperial troops. He is then encased in a black body suit containing a life-support machine, and adopts a new name that will strike terror across the galaxy `Darth Vader.
